The bumper is a node for stopping trains at the end of a track. In real life it is often called a buffer stop. The bumper was particularly useful in the early days before trains would brake automatically to avoid going off the end of the tracks [verification needed].

The bumper still uses older textures than the rest of the tracks and its model could definitely use improvement.
